About Me!
Hello Homeschool Families, Parents, and Teachers!
I'm Carlee — a stay-at-home mom and former classroom teacher who is passionate about creating educational resources that make learning engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable.
Before stepping into the homeschool world, I spent eight years teaching in traditional classrooms. I hold a degree in Elementary Education (K–8) with an endorsement in Literacy, Reading, and Writing (Pre-K–12), along with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My years in education gave me valuable insight into how children learn and inspired me to create resources that support learning both at home and in the classroom.
As an educator with specialized training in phonics, reading comprehension, and evidence-based literacy instruction, I understand the importance of building strong learning foundations. The resources at Prairie & Pencil Learning Co. are created with educational best practices, developmental readiness, and grade-level learning goals in mind while remaining flexible enough to fit a variety of homeschool styles and learning approaches.
I've always enjoyed creating educational materials and finding ways to make learning both effective and engaging. After becoming a stay-at-home mom and beginning to prepare for our family's future homeschool journey, I started designing printables, learning activities, and organizational tools that combine my love of education, creativity, and practical learning.
